The team behind this comparison

The Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital is staffed by four consultants inside a tertiary general hospital, and Ke He, MD, is responsible for the medical review of this site. She holds the injectable half of the comparison. Dr. Shaoliang Wang supplies the surgical view for the face whose change is descent rather than volume, and the hospital-level care a vascular emergency needs. Dr. Tongchun Mao separates what an operation would answer from what an injection would. Dr. Yongbo Jia assesses the skin itself and manages the nodules, lumps and delayed reactions that belong to these materials.

Deputy Director & Head of Skin & Laser Aesthetics · Attending Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending · Lead Physician of This Site

Injectable assessment · dissolvable and non-dissolvable materials · complication management

Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital and head of its skin and laser aesthetic service — and she is the lead physician of this site. A core specialist formerly at the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department of Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, she has worked on the clinical front line in skin laser and injectable aesthetics for more than 20 years, serving over ten thousand patients.

On this site her part is the order of the assessment. She establishes what the face has lost before any material is discussed: whether the deficit is one defined hollow or a diffuse loss of support, whether the skin is thin enough for a biostimulator to be worth raising at all, and whether the change is actually descent. She treats the reversibility question as a clinical fact rather than a selling point, so a patient who wants something that can be partly taken back is told which class that is. When the honest answer is that neither class fits, she says so.

Clinical focus

  • The order of assessment: which change is present before which material is discussed
  • Choosing between a dissolvable filler and a material that cannot be dissolved
  • Skin thickness and diffuse loss of support as a question separate from a hollow
  • Recognising and managing vascular occlusion after any injected material
  • Advising a patient for whom neither substance class is the right answer

Academic roles & achievements

  • Member, Laser Medicine Group, Chinese Medical Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Member, Facial Rejuvenation Group, Chinese Medical Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Member, Chongqing Plastic Surgery Quality Control Center
  • Published 5 papers, holds 5 national patents, and introduced 2 new clinical techniques

Reversibility is a clinical fact

A hyaluronic acid filler can be broken down by an enzyme; a collagen biostimulator cannot. That is a property of the materials rather than a claim made for them, and it is one of the few parts of this decision that is settled before you arrive. It does not make one class better. It makes one class partly reversible, which some patients want and others are choosing to avoid.
